THE GREAT LAKES SNOW SERIES (GLSS) IS THE MICHIGAN SERIES, WITHIN THE CENTRAL DIVISION, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA SNOWBOARD & FREE SKI ASSOCIATION (USASA). GLSS CAME ABOUT FROM A MERGER BETWEEN THE HUCK FINN & MIDDLE EARTH SNOW SERIES. GLSS IS ONE OF 32 NATIONAL SERIES, WITHIN 1 OF 5 NATIONAL DIVISIONS (CENTRAL, WESTERN, ROCKIES, EASTERN, NEW ENGLAND DIVISIONS), FALLING UNDER THE USASA UMBRELLA. THE USASA WAS FOUNDED IN 1988. ROUGHLY 95% OF U.S. OLYMPIANS GOT THEIR START AT A REGIONAL USASA SERIES COMPETITION AT ONE OF 100+ RESORTS, IN ONE OF 500+ NATIONAL EVENTS, AS ONE OF OF 5,000+ COMPETITORS. EACH GLSS SERIES WINNER EARNS A SPOT TO COMPETE AT NATIONALS. COMPETITIVE CATEGORIES ARE SLOPESTYLE, HALF PIPE, RAIL JAM, BOARDERCROSS, SLALOM, AND GIANT SLALOM. GLSS HAS HAD SEVERAL OLYMPIANS AND NUMEROUS PROS THAT HAVE DEVELOPED FROM WITHIN ITS RANKS. GLSS CONTINUES TO HELP DEVELOP THE NEXT GENERATION OF RIDERS THAT PUSH THE LIMITS AS OLYMPIANS, PROS AND ACCOMPLISHED AMATEUR ATHLETES. if you have a youth snowboarder in your life, we highly recommend exposing them to glss events. we fully endorse the national non-profit usasa organization. get your young snowboarder involved!
