The Michigan Snowboard Museum is about snowboard history in the Winter Wonderland of the Great Lakes State... and beyond! Despite our small hill stature, Michigan holds a significant place in snowboard history. Whether it be board history, design, artwork, manufacturers, materials, technological progression, accessories, advertisements, innovators, industry professionals, pros, legends or notable amateurs - you'll likely find something of interest.
THE INTENT IS TO KEEP THE SITE LOOSE & FUN - JUST LIKE SNOWBOARDING ITSELF. THERE'S NO INTENT to gain "likes" or count "site visits" - JUST TRYING TO GET some local BOARDS and rare BOARDs OUT THERE, AND give a little boost to NON-PROFIT BOARD SPORT ORGS in mi, EDUCATE THOSE INTERESTED in the local history, RECOGNIZE ATHLETES & INDUSTRY FOLKS, "whatever" related to michigan snowboarding.
The museum came about from a desire to hang one old Burton on the wall of a shred chalet "up north". As collectors of anything understand, the addiction progresses "downhill" rapidly. emphasis is on Burton evolution & decks connected to michigan. we believe the collection represents a solid historical perspective of snowboard evolution, nationally and locally.
While viewing, keep in mind that although the info contained on this site is believed to be accurate, nothing claimed here is fact. Info is only as good as the source it came from. Internet assumptions presented as facts, misinformation, typos, honest mistakes, liberties taken, sketchy documentation and hazy memories in the early years of the sport all contribute to this statement. We welcome anything that improves the quality of the info, provided it's meaningful, somewhat documented, or supported by legit sources. the project remains a work in progress that relies on lots of research & collective input. WE HOPE IT'S accuracy IMPROVES over time.
Please help support board sports through any of the sponsorship options. We don't touch money donated to these groups. send money to them and let us know you did. we'll casually acknowledge anything you can do to help support these non-profit orgs. details are on the charities and sponsorship page of this site.
